Choosing the Right Level 3 Care Qualification

Once a care worker has their Care Certificate and some experience, a Level 3 qualification is usually the next step – but there are several routes, and which one fits depends on the role someone wants next.

A general Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care suits workers staying in a hands-on care role who want a recognised, portable qualification. A Level 3 award aimed at team leading or supervising suits someone moving toward a senior care worker or shift-lead role. Someone interested in delivering training in-house may want a Level 3 Award in Education and Training instead, or alongside it.

It’s worth mapping a qualification against where someone wants to be in two years, not just their current job title – a lot of wasted training spend comes from choosing the qualification that was available rather than the one that was useful.
