Level 3 Award in Education and Training

This course is grounded directly in the real NCFE/Pearson Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) qualification specification, a minimum 12-credit award built from three mandatory units: Understanding Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships in Education and Training; Understanding and Using Inclusive Teaching and Learning Approaches in Education and Training; and Understanding Assessment in Education and Training.

The AET is genuinely the standard entry-level teaching qualification across the UK further education and training sector, and it is often the first formal step for anyone who finds themselves responsible for training others — whether that is a registered manager delivering induction, a senior care worker running toolbox talks, or someone stepping deliberately into a dedicated trainer role. Written for registered managers, senior care workers and anyone taking on a training responsibility across Supported Living, Domiciliary Care and Ambulance Services, this course covers across eighteen lessons the genuine roles, responsibilities and boundaries of a teacher or trainer, the legislation, regulation and codes of practice that shape the role, promoting equality and valuing diversity, identifying and meeting individual learner needs, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment, promoting appropriate behaviour and respect, relationships with other professionals, inclusive teaching and learning approaches, planning inclusive sessions, using resources and technology, understanding assessment types and purposes, effective assessment methods and micro-teaching, giving effective feedback, record keeping, reflective practice and continuing professional development, and applying this learning specifically within a care setting.

This course is a standalone, foundational grounding in the real AET qualification structure and content. It is not itself an accredited award — achieving the genuine, certificated AET qualification requires enrolment with a recognised awarding organisation and completion of an assessed portfolio, including a genuine micro-teach or teaching practice element. This course sits alongside, and is intended to complement, the Level 3 Award for Health and Social Care Trainers course elsewhere in this series, and to prepare a learner well for the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training course, also in this series, as a natural next step.
