Level 3 Award for Health and Social Care Trainers

Every course in this series so far has been about content: what a registered manager and their team need to know. This course is different. It is about the skill of teaching that content well — the specific, learnable craft of planning a session, delivering it in a way that genuinely lands with adult learners, assessing whether it has actually worked, and improving it next time.

It maps onto a combined qualification pathway offered by training providers across the sector: the Level 3 Award for Health and Social Care Trainers itself (the core, sector-specific competency award), the Level 3 Award in Education and Training, sometimes still referred to by its older name AET, and the Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment. Together, these three regulated qualifications give someone the recognised competency to plan, deliver and assess training in a real workplace, typically assessed through a portfolio of evidence, a micro-teach session, and a genuine teaching observation.

Written for registered managers, senior carers and anyone stepping into an in-house training role, across eighteen lessons we cover the trainer’s role and professional boundaries, the principles of care as they apply to training delivery itself, understanding adult learners, inclusive teaching, session planning, delivering engaging training, the micro-teach, assessment principles and methods, giving feedback, quality assurance, evaluating training, delivering the Care Certificate specifically, meeting CQC and Skills for Care expectations as a trainer, and applying all of this across Supported Living, Domiciliary Care and Ambulance Services.
