Compliance isn't a one-off event, it's an ongoing legal duty. CQC's Regulation 17 requires providers to run effective systems that assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of their service, not just meet the standard once and move on. Ofsted's children's homes regime goes further still, requiring a formal quality review at least every 6 months and an independent monthly visit and report. We build and run those systems for you, audits, policies, mock inspections, and ongoing monitoring, so you can evidence continuous compliance rather than scrambling to prove it when an inspector calls.
Regulation 17, Good governance (Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014) requires you to have systems and processes that operate effectively to ensure compliance with the fundamental standards, and specifically requires those systems to let you assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of the services you provide, assess, monitor and mitigate risks to service users' health, safety and welfare, and maintain accurate, complete and contemporaneous records. If CQC asks, you must supply a written report within 28 days setting out how you're meeting these duties and what improvements you're making. In other words, an audit trail and a working quality assurance system aren't optional extras, they're what Regulation 17 itself requires you to have.
Regulation 45, Review of quality of care (Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015) requires you to review the quality of care provided to children at least once every 6 months, using a proper monitoring system and the children's own feedback, and to send Ofsted a written report on that review, and your planned actions, within 28 days. Regulation 44, Independent person: visits and reports sits alongside it, requiring an independent visitor, someone whose appointment doesn't compromise their ability to reach a rigorous, impartial judgement, to visit the home at least once a month and report on whether children are effectively safeguarded and their wellbeing promoted.
Together these regulations mean quality assurance in a children's home has both a 6-monthly and a monthly rhythm built into the law, not just an annual inspection to prepare for.
A thorough review of your policies, procedures and practices against current CQC or Ofsted standards, covering care planning, medication management, staffing and safeguarding, giving you the assessed, monitored evidence Regulation 17(a) and Regulation 45 both require you to hold.
Bespoke policy and procedure documents, Statement of Purpose, safeguarding policies, medication management, complaints procedures, staff handbooks and care planning frameworks, tailored to your service type and regulatory framework, forming the documented systems Regulation 17(1) requires you to have in place.
Audit frameworks, feedback mechanisms, and action planning built for continuous improvement, the ongoing monitoring and improvement system Regulation 17(a)-(b) requires on the CQC side, and the quality-of-care monitoring system Regulation 45 requires if you're Ofsted regulated.
Mock inspections and preparation sessions following CQC or Ofsted methodology, plus support with Provider Information Returns and post-inspection action plans, so the written reports Regulation 17(3) and Regulation 45 both require you to be able to produce are ready before a regulator asks for them, not assembled under pressure afterwards.
Regular check-ins and updates to keep your compliance current as regulations evolve. For children's homes specifically, this is where our Monthly Monitoring service can stand in for, or support, the independent monthly visit and report Regulation 44 itself requires, giving you a compliant, impartial monthly review rather than an internal check that wouldn't satisfy the independence Regulation 44 asks for.

Worth checking one figure here: QA System Setup's member price of £359 works out to about a 20.2% discount off its £450 standard price, not the 10% applied consistently across every other line item on this page and across every other Provider Services page checked in this batch of work. That's either a genuinely deeper introductory discount on this specific item, or a typo, worth confirming which.
A detailed assessment of your policies, procedures, and practices against CQC or Ofsted regulatory standards, the most comprehensive single item on this page at £650 standard, £585 for Synergy members.
Both. QA System Setup covers implementing audit frameworks, feedback mechanisms, and action planning processes for a service that doesn't have one yet, while Monthly Monitoring and the Full Compliance Audit support providers who already have a system and want ongoing or one-off assessment.
It simulates a real CQC or Ofsted inspection, giving you pre-inspection preparation and identifying gaps before a real inspector visits, priced at £500 standard, £450 for Synergy members.
Policy Development covers writing custom documents from scratch, including statements of purpose, safeguarding policies, medication management procedures, complaints processes, and HR materials, priced from £450, rather than only reviewing what you already have.
Regulation 17, Good governance, requires systems that let you assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of your service, assess and mitigate risks, and maintain accurate records, with a written report to CQC within 28 days if asked.
Regulation 45, Review of quality of care, requires a formal review at least every 6 months, using a proper monitoring system and children's own feedback, reported to Ofsted within 28 days. Regulation 44, Independent person: visits and reports, additionally requires an independent visitor to visit at least once a month and report on whether children are effectively safeguarded.
Section 5 of the Care Act 2014 requires a local authority to promote a sustainable, high quality local care market, which is the underlying duty behind why local authorities run their own contract monitoring and quality assurance visits alongside CQC and Ofsted inspection.
Whether you need a one off audit or ongoing compliance monitoring, we can help you stay inspection ready.
