All-in-One Day Mandatory Training for Care Workers
Our all-in-one-day mandatory training equips care workers with the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out their role safely and effectively. This condensed training, worth 6.5 CPD hours, is designed to cover essential topics outlined by Skills for Care, effectively linking them to CQC regulations.
What is CQC Mandatory Training?
There is no such thing as “CQC Mandatory Training” as some training providers seem to suggest. "A quote from the CQC about this reads “We do not tell you specifically how to meet your legal requirements in relation to training. You are responsible for ensuring your staff are appropriately trained to meet the requirements of the regulations”.
The CQC do not have a list of their own approved mandatory training as an independent regulatory body. They, however, usually signpost any training requirements to the sector body for health and social care, Skills for Care. Skills for Care collaborates with employers to establish the standards, competencies, and skills necessary for all care roles.
Our Skills for Care-aligned Mandatory training, however, incorporates CQC standards, care value-based and ethical principles, linked to professionalism, including the involvement of other regulators such as local authorities, ICBs, the Health and Safety Executive, the Food Standards Agency, and the Information Commissioner.
Who is this All-in-One mandatory Training suitable for?
This one-day mandatory care worker training is suitable for both new care workers and existing workers who require an update or to enhance their practical and theoretical understanding. Consolidating multiple topics into a single day helps care organisations and workers to minimise disruption to their daily operations while maximising learning.
The training will include Practical examples, allowing care and support workers to apply learned concepts directly to real-world scenarios. For example, care workers might engage in role-playing exercises that simulate common challenges faced in domiciliary care. These exercises not only reinforce learning but also build confidence among workers as they navigate complex situations. In supported living environments, practical examples might include demonstrations of effective communication techniques with residents who have varying needs.
Care work is a delicate profession that has a real impact on people's lives. It can lead to serious injuries, such as when medication is mixed incorrectly. Care workers can cause anxiety and stress for those receiving poor care or even trigger safeguarding investigations.
Our one-day mandatory care worker training incorporates several key values to help staff fully understand their regulatory responsibilities, including seeking consent, duty of candour, working in partnership, ensuring safety, and delivering quality care.
