Level 2 Care Certificate (RQF)
All new starters in care are expected to complete the Level 2 Care Certificate as part of their induction. Developed by Skills for Care, this qualification aims to provide a consistent approach to training across various settings, including home care, supported living, and residential services. It enables you to deliver assistance with compassion and dignity.
The qualification consists of 15 standards, including quality of care, understanding your role, personal development, safeguarding vulnerable adults, and health and safety. Each standard aims to develop and improve your qualities and skills for daily practice.
For example, if you are working in home care helping people to bathe, get dressed, or make dinner, the Care Certificate helps you understand the importance of privacy and dignity. The qualification also reminds you of the importance of communicating effectively with your peers to ensure that good quality care is consistently provided. It also promotes safeguarding, where you are expected to recognise signs of potential abuse or neglect and take action quickly according to your local authority and organisation’s procedures.
