Children and Adult Social Care Short Courses

Our children and adult and social care courses are aimed at the front line and management. We deliver a number of level 3 courses that will help you to demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and skills in a number of specialist social care activities. For example, working and supporting individuals diagnosed with autism, mental health, learning disability and dementia. We also deliver a care workers course for those supporting individuals at the end of life.

Why complete our Specialist Training courses?

Specialist adult short courses have the potential to transform the ways we understand and support individuals with unique needs. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) sets out strict guidelines for health and social care providers in the UK, particularly concerning training and experience. There is a requirement to demonstrate training beyond mandatory care courses, especially when registering new regulated activities. Local authorities might also require additional training to fulfil contracts and be allowed to provide specialist services.

These short courses in adult care provide invaluable knowledge and skills for care workers who seek to understand and support individuals who require specialist care. These Short courses are designed to meet the specific needs of individuals with conditions like autism and dementia which can bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Specialist children short courses are targeted training courses designed to equip childcare professionals with specific skills and knowledge. They are particularly beneficial for those working in environments such as nurseries, schools, and residential care settings.

The courses aim to enhance the understanding of child care workers when it comes to the unique challenges faced by children and how to address these effectively. Links to Ofsted and CQC Requirements

Ofsted Requirements: Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills) inspects and regulates services that care for children and provide education. When it comes to meeting Ofsted requirements, below are key considerations for childcare providers:

  • Effective Leadership and Management: Providers must demonstrate clear leadership that prioritises child welfare and development.
  • Children's Needs: Services must be tailored to meet the needs of individual children.
  • Continuous Improvement: Evidence of regular training and updates in skills and knowledge is crucial for achieving high ratings.

On the other hand, CQC (Care Quality Commission) inspects health and social care services, including those supporting children. Meeting CQC requirements involves:

  • Safe and Effective Care: Ensuring the care environment is safe and that care provided is effective.
  • Responsive Services: Adapting services to meet the diverse needs of children.
  • Well-Led Services: Demonstrating strong leadership and a commitment to providing good care.

Both Ofsted and CQC place a strong emphasis on the ongoing professional development of staff, making specialist short courses invaluable.
